As principais atividades executadas se destinam principalmente ao ensino de gradua\u00e7\u00e3o envolvendo atividades pr\u00e1ticas referentes \u00e0s v\u00e1rias disciplinas oferecidas semestralmente no departamento, atendendo aos Cursos de Engenharia de Materiais, Engenharia de Produ\u00e7\u00e3o, Engenharia Mec\u00e2nica, Engenharia Mecatr\u00f4nica e Engenharia Aeron\u00e1utica, al\u00e9m de disciplinas de p\u00f3s-gradua\u00e7\u00e3o e atividades de pesquisa. O Laborat\u00f3rio de Microscopia \u00d3ptica possui ainda um sistema informatizado com projetor e banco de imagens de v\u00e1rias fam\u00edlias de a\u00e7os, materiais ferrosos e n\u00e3o-ferrosos para caracteriza\u00e7\u00e3o microestrutural e uso did\u00e1tico em aulas pr\u00e1ticas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dentro das depend\u00eancias do Laborat\u00f3rio de Microscopia \u00d3ptica existe a divis\u00e3o de Prepara\u00e7\u00e3o Metalogr\u00e1fica de Pesquisa composta por uma (01) Cortadeira IsoMet-1000 com disco diamantado para cortes de precis\u00e3o, uma (01) Embutidora SimpliMet XPS1 Mouting System e uma (01) Politriz EcoMet 250 Grinder-Polisher, todas da marca Buehler.
